Is Your Business Ready For The Mobile Shift?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that virtually everything these days is going mobile. This is definitely true of marketing. Many businesses have already launched a mobile marketing strategy to capitalize on a growing number of mobile users. In recent years the smartphone industry has exploded making it possible for millions around the world to be constantly online wherever they go and whatever they’re doing. And one activity that people do a lot of is perform mobile searches. It is predicted that by 2015, mobile search will surpass traditional search. In other words, more online searches will originate from mobile devices than from PCs and laptops. If your business isn’t ready for this mobile shift, you’ll be missing out on more than 50% of potential customers. So if you’ve been putting off mobile optimization, you can’t afford to wait any longer.

Here are a few helpful tips to help you prepare your small business for the upcoming mobile takeover.

Create A Mobile Website
Having a mobile website is Mobile Marketing 101. If you are relying solely on a traditional website, then nearly half of all of your web traffic will be trying to view a site designed for a computer monitor on a four- to five-inch screen. Though some will be patient enough to pinch and zoom to find their way through your website, many others won’t and will simply look elsewhere. A mobile website is different in a number of ways. It is much more simplistic and is easier to navigate. It condenses down all the basic information so that a person on the go can find what they need quickly.

Use Mobile Ads And Offers
Not all mobile users spend a lot of time on web browsers. Many are content to use their smartphones and tablets for the thousands of available apps. In order to reach these consumers who spend most of their time in apps, you can invest in mobile ads. In-app advertising allows you to display ads for your business to people who are using another app. In-app advertising works best when the app you’re advertising in is in some way related to the type of business you are advertising.

Optimize Social Media Marketing For Mobile
One of the most popular activities on smartphones and tablets is social media. Because mobile users are spending so much time on social media, it’s important to make it easy for them to connect with you via social media. Provide links to your social media accounts from your mobile website. Have “like” and “share” buttons that are clearly visible.

Make Mobile Marketing Personal
Like every other advertising channel, mobile marketing should be personal. In creating a mobile marketing strategy for your businesses, make it your own. There are lots of different marketing strategies out there. Experiment and find which ones work well for your businesses. Continue to fine tune your marketing strategy to make it more effective.

Smartphone To Test Alcohol Level With Alcohoot

Have you ever realized how fascinating your smartphone is? It can do everything from give you directions to let you search for cat videos. Some are more useful than others, but that’s besides the point. And on top of all that, you can add extra apps and devices to your smartphone to make it even more useful to your everyday needs. Not only does it offer you calling, texting, chatting, playing, and internet capabilities, but now it can even help you with daily decisions, such as whether or not you’ve had too much to drink.

A Drink Away From Getting In The Car

Imagine you’ve been at a dinner party with some friends and aren’t exactly sure if you’ve had too much to drink. You weren’t planning to stay the night or to call a cab, so why not just drive home? Of course, you wouldn’t want to hurt anyone else in an accident or get a DUI from some cop waiting on the road for you. If only you could know exactly what your alcohol level was…

Well now you can! It is called Alcohoot and it connects to your smartphone to let you test your blood alcohol level. You have to breath hard into it just like the ones the cops have, according toForbes, but your smartphone will be able to track your alcohol level very well after it is plugged into your smartphone. In order to make it easier for users to work with, the breathalyzer has a blue light to let you know when it is ready, and it vibrates to let you know it has enough breath to get a good analysis. Next time you are out with friends and want a little buzz without becoming a danger to anyone, you can bring your Alcohoot and test yourself.

For The Designated Driver

Maybe the real point of this device is for your designated driver. It is never fun to get asked to be the driver during the holidays, weddings, or other big events where drinking is involved. Maybe you just want a little bit without getting too carried away and being incapable of driving. If that’s the case, you can bring your Alcohoot with you and just have a drink or too. Test yourself on your smartphone to make sure you are still okay to drive, and your smartphone will help you keep track of your alcohol levels.

Other Reasons To Keep Around A Breathalyzer

This kind of device may not be just for the people out there who want to drink. You may want to keep it around to test other people. For example, maybe you have a teenager that likes to party just a little too hard. Buy one of these and start randomly checking their levels. If you have hard consequences, they will probably stop drinking all the time. It could be a good way to teach teens that there are consequences to their actions without them having to realize it on their own by getting sent to prison. Maybe you have a family member who is living with you but is on parole. Grab one of these, and you can test them regularly to make sure they are following the law. Better for you to find out and help them fix the problem than that their parole officer catches them breaking the law. With your smartphone you can do so much more than just call people. You can even save a life.

Mobile Marketing Tips For Your Business

With cell phones, everything became a “right here, right now” kind of mentality. We aren’t very good at waiting anymore, especially since smartphones put the world at our fingertips. Even when we are flying, we still have access to smartphones. Though this might be bad news for the person trying to sleep on the flight or for the person sitting at dinner with you every night, it’s great news for businesses. It means you can rely on the fact that your mobile advertising will get to your customers right here, right now instead of waiting a couple of days in an email or in the mail.

Communicate Right Now
Even though cell phones make it easier to hold off on texting, calling, and using the internet until later when we have more time or are not distracted, we never do that. Instead, we pull over and check the text right now and always answer the phone. That is why your business needs to focus more on mobile. Here are a few ways you can improve mobile advertising, thanks to Biz Journals:

Mobile Site
If you don’t already have a mobile-friendly site, shame on you. More people browse the internet for random things while sitting in line at the airport than they will while sitting at their desk for a few minutes of work. That is why you need to make sure your website works just as good as, if not better than, it does on a computer.

Easy-To-Read Content
In a world of distractions everywhere and people constantly needing it to move forward at a fast pace, boring content will just bother people. They aren’t about to read it and spend time understanding it if, instead, they can go to a competitor where it is much easier to figure out. It isn’t just about having content that is easy to read. You should also have a website that is easy to navigate and a checkout that is easy to use. Otherwise, your customers will get lost and move on without a second glance.

Smartphone Friendly Ads
Since people are spending hours upon hours on social media and playing on the internet with their smartphones, you need to make sure you have better ads for mobile. That is where people are wasting their time when bored and where they will find ads and click on them to see what it is. Mobile ads will be much more profitable than anything else you can do.

Social Networking
As already mentioned, people spend a lot of time on social networks. Though it used to be sort of annoying to deal with businesses on Facebook and Twitter, now it has become the place people go to see what is going on with businesses. A lot of companies make announcements on Facebook or show off new products. This is the place to be, and customers know it. If you aren’t on social media, you need to try again.

Personalize It
The most important part of all this is to make sure you are getting personal with your customers. They will come back again and again if they feel like you are their friend or that you have a relationship with them. You can do this by using texting programs to communicate with them. Try it out and see how it can help your business.

iPhone Pushing Apple Shares Higher

The more a company expands, the more money it makes and the higher it profits. When a company does better, its shares increase on the stock market. That is why it is such a gamble to buy and share trades. You never know if the company is going to do something miraculous and make more money or somehow drop the ball and lose a lot. Fortunately for most Apple shareholders, it seems 2014 is going to be a great year and the prices will just go up.

Why Is Apple Doing Well?

Apple does well already with practically a monopoly on all-thing technology. People buy Apple computers, phones, tablets, and more. On top of all that, though, is the fact that Apple just solidified a deal with China Mobile to get its iPhones sold by the cell phone carrier, according to Modern Readers. Apple’s presence in China is about to get a lot bigger, and that means sales are going to go up a lot. In fact, it is estimated that Apple sales will increase 5 percent in 2014 because of the deal.

Investors To See Payoff

Investors in Apple have been wondering if the China Mobile deal was ever going to happen or if there was really any worth to that Apple stock they have been holding onto for so long. Apple could have just as easily squashed the deal leaving investors with huge losses. However, now that the deal is finally completed, it seems that the wait has paid off. From a week ago, prices have increased significantly for Apple stock, even though rumors of a quicker release of the iPhone 5 in China ended up not being true. Maybe investors need to hold on just a little bit longer if they want an even bigger payoff than expected.

When Will The iPhone 5s And 5c Be Released?

Apple plans to release the iPhone 5s and 5c in China next month, which is a pretty quick kick-off. This is as big for Apple as the day when it was announced the the iPhone was finally going to be on other networks besides AT&T. Finally, people who have been waiting will be able to get the iPhone on the network they are most comfortable with. And China Mobile will be sure to push it too. It’s not a bad deal for either parties. Apple gets a lot more customers by selling it through a large phone carrier, and China Mobile gets a lot more customers by having a more desirable smartphone and offering it to everyone in their network. It is unknown which company will benefit more from the phones, but it is hard to avoid the fact that Apple will be doing a lot of business with a wider market. Especially considering it is estimated that Apple will sell over 40 million iPhones in just the first quarter of next year.

Only Time Will Tell

The truth is, things can be looking really good for Apple and Apple stock right now, but news of a virus or insider trading could break next week causing Apple shares to plummet. If you are buying Apple shares, the outlook certainly looks good, but keep in mind it is still a risky decision.

Five Reasons Your SMS Campaign Isn’t Working

Marketers everywhere are shouting the praises of text message marketing. If you own a small business, most likely you’ve heard all the hype surrounding SMS. If you’ve taken the leap to go mobile but aren’t experiencing the success you were promised, you might be tempted to forget about mobile altogether. You may want to consider, however, that the problem isn’t SMS as a channel, but rather the strategy you’re using. Here are five reasons your text message marketing campaign may not be working as well as it could be.

Offers
The most popular use of text message marketing is to offer special deals to customers on your texting list. If you’re not getting the response you think you should be, it could be because the deals you’re offering aren’t exciting enough. Try offering the best possible deals you can afford. The better the deal, the more likely your customers are to redeem it and tell their friends about it. To really get the most out of a text message deal, make it exclusive to those who are opted in to your texting club.

Advertising
You may be under the assumption that because you’ve gone through the trouble of launching a SMS campaign, your customers will flock to it. This isn’t usually the case. If you want to build your texting list and start seeing success through text message marketing, you’ve got to let your customers know about your SMS campaign. Look for ways to advertise your texting campaign. Put out signs in your store, advertise on billboards and on your business’s website. A great way to jumpstart your text list is to offer a freebie as incentive for an opt in. The larger your text list, the more results you’ll see from your SMS campaign.

Call To Action
The reason many SMS campaigns fail is that they lack a call to action. Never assume that your customer will know what you want them to do with your text. You need to include a brief call to action that lets them know what you expect them to do. It can be a mobile coupon you want them to redeem or a link you want them to share with their friends. Whatever it is, make sure your call to action is clear and includes a reward.

Mobile Website
A SMS campaign is most effective when paired with a mobile optimized website. When your customers receive a text from you about a promotion, many of them will want to investigate further by visiting your website. If your site isn’t optimized for mobile devices, chances are you’ll lose more than a few potential customers.

Strategy
Finally, If your SMS strategy is lacking the strategy part, it’s not going to be successful. To really make the most of any marketing campaign, you need to have a solid plan in place. Before you send the first text message, make sure you’ve got a detailed strategy.
So before you give up on SMS marketing, try implementing these five tips and start reaping the rewards of text message marketing.

Business Texting After Holiday Sales

Every business will hit a slow patch the week between Christmas and New Years. If anyone does show up to your store, it will either end in you losing money due to a return or breaking even because the item was returned and a new one was purchased. Few people run out and do a lot of shopping during the week. Luckily, you can use business texting during that week to bring in more customers and remind them that you are there.

As A Retailer
The first thing you need to do is come up with a promotion you would like to offer. As a retailer, you may want to consider doing a half-off sale of all items that were specifically purchased for Christmas sales. After you have figured out what it is that will be on sale, you need to determine the time frame for the sale. Since the intention is to specifically bring in more business between Christmas and the end of the year, send out a text telling your customer you are having a sale that will only last through the end of the year. Make sure you specify any days your business may be closed. This will bring in customers who feel like they only have a short time to get in and buy stuff at a discount.

As A Restaurant
Restaurants have nearly the same problem as retailers. It seems like most of the people who come in after the holidays are there using gift cards. It is a pretty good time for restaurants, though, because people are out and about and eating out a lot. This means you need to find ways to get your customers to come to you instead of going to a competitor. Send a text to all your customers offering a buy one get one half off entree, or something similar to that. It will distract your customers from all the competition and make sure they make their way to you. If you offer appetizers, you could also do a free appetizer coupon to get more people into the doors. Anything free or any kind of discount will give you the advantage and bring in more business.

Doing Business To Business
A lot of companies out there are thinking this is a good break time because you offer services to businesses, and they are all closed. The truth is, this is the perfect time to advertise. Whether you sell furniture to businesses or sell office supplies, now is the time to remind your customers you are there for them. And there will be hardly any other companies to compete with since they are all in the mindset of using this time as a break. Send a text reminding your clients that you are there for them when they need you and that you wish them a happy holiday. This will give them a sense of your caring and relationship for them.

No matter what kind of business you run, business texting can get you where you need to be between Christmas and New Years this year.

Wrapping It Up: Best Smartphones of 2013

I know you were all wondering what the best smartphones of 2013 would be. Well, the good news is that smartphones in general actually did really well in 2013. We’ll take a look at smartphones this year, how they changed, and which ones were successful on a global level.

Start With The iPhone

We have to start with the iPhone, considering the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5c were all in the top 10 selling smartphones this year (number 1, 2, and 4 spots). Though criticized for its transition to a “cheap” version of the phone, customers still bought the phone and proved Apple was making the right move. The biggest change Apple saw was more than just a faster phone: the thumb-print password was a huge hit, though only found on the 5s.

Down To Samsung

The number 3 spot went to the Samsung Galaxy S4, where customers were able to get something stable and problem-free from Samsung. Samsung also took spots 5, 6, 7, and 9 with the Galaxy Note III, the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy S4 Mini, and the Galaxy S III Mini. It seems customers were more than happy to purchase the “cheap” and small versions of Galaxy phones this year because of all their capabilities. Doing multiple things at once, viewing things in a clear screen, and more. If Apple takes the number one spot with just one phone, Samsung made it with a lot of different phones.

That Leads Us To Android

Android is selling quite a bit, and on a company-wide basis, may be much more successful than Nokia. Still, the individual phones did not do as well on a global level. Android is known as a company and not by the specific phones developed. With new updates always being released on its operating system, including the new Android Kit Kat operating system announcement from the year, customers know they are always getting something new and improved with their purchases. If we were looking at cell phone manufacturers instead of individual phones of 2013, Android would do much better with the numbers.

Windows Phone

Surprisingly, the Windows Phone is growing significantly in popularity. Though not a lot of them are sold on a global level to compete with Samsung and Apple, the phone popularity has grown over 100 percent in the last year. Sales are booming, and it seems the Windows Phone might even be new competition facing the big ones, like Android, Samsung and iPhone.

Nokia On The List Too

One of the phone manufacturer on the list was Nokia, as it got spots 8 and 10 with the 105 and Nokia 501, both of which are feature phones and not smartphones, according to CNET. Though technically behind Android in total sales, individual phones at Nokia did surprisingly well globally in the last year.

As you can see, there were a lot of great phones released this year, and manufacturers did really well improving and changing things. Apple still took the lead on most things, though 2014 might not be the same. In 2014, new curved phones and inventions will com about from other phone manufacturers, possibly bringing a new company to the top. Anything can happen with the new year.

Nothing In Life Comes Free: Windows Phone

Every company tries to get you hooked on their new products by offering free trials, free products, and anything else free you might need to get started. However, this isn’t always the best thing ever. In fact, free is often not free at all. That is something many Windows Phone users might quickly discover with 20 GB free cloud storage. Is it really free at all?

Offer From Microsoft For Free Storage

Every Windows Phone user is going to get a huge bonus with their phone: 20 GB free cloud storage. According to Venture Beat, though, the news isn’t all that great. You only get the free 20 GB of storage for a year, and anything that goes unused will be taken away at that time. Those who actually use that much storage will quickly start paying a fee to keep all their stuff on the cloud. In the end, it might actually be good for Microsoft to give a little if it ends up getting a bunch back in return, something businesses often do. The payoff is a year away, so who knows how well the marketing strategy will really work.

For All The Customers

The best part of this plan is that it is for everyone. Often, companies offering bonuses or extra add ons at a discounted price will only offer it to new customers, meaning those who have actually stuck around and been loyal don’t get any kind of reward. Instead, this offer extends to all current Windows Phone users and all new ones before January. It is not only a scheme to get more customers but also a way to reward old customers and get them interested in new products.

Not Really Free

The problem with offering “free” stuff is that it is never free. Someone always has to pay something for it. For example, if you are getting a free Coke, either someone else bought it for you or Coke is soaking up the costs. Essentially, it was never free. Companies like to offer “free” stuff and then make up for the cost by increasing the price of everything else or including the cost in what you are already buying somehow. For example, you might buy a car that comes with a free cruise, but really the cost of the cruise has already been built into the price of the car. Most people would just prefer to get the car at a lower price than also get a cruise with it.

Windows Phone cloud storage isn’t free either. Yeah, maybe Microsoft is offering it current customers too, but that money has to come from somewhere. Maybe the real secret is that they want you to get used to the storage just to lose it all and have to pay for it to get it back. Somewhere along the way, you will end up paying for it, and it will not come free. Keep that in mind as you buy your Windows Phone or any other smartphone offering free features.

Understanding The Hashtag

The humble hashtag is perhaps the most misused and misunderstood social media tool. If you have any social media account, chances are you’ve seen the hashtag abused in a hundred different ways. Its repeated misuse has led many to believe that the hashtag has no purpose. In actuality, that one little symbol holds great power for mobile marketers who learn how to use it. Here are a few things you may not have known about the hashtag and how it can be used to enhance your business’s mobile marketing strategy

The Beginning of the Hashtag
The hashtag as it is used today, got its start on the social media site, Twitter. With millions of tweets, the hashtag gave people a way to organize and sort through all the mess and read about certain topics. By placing a hash or pound symbol next to a phrase, a person can tag that phrase allowing others to search that phrase and pull up that tweet. Though Twitter made the hashtag popular, it has since spread to many other social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook.

The Hashtag Advantage
The hashtag when used properly is extremely powerful. Hashtags allow brands to inform their target audience about a specific topic instantaneously. A hashtag can also connect one post to hundreds or thousands of others that are about the same topic. The right hashtag phrase can boost brand recognition, extend the reach of social media ad campaigns, and foster customer loyalty.

The Basics
If you’re unfamiliar with using hashtags in your social media posts, here are the basics you’ll need to know. Most importantly, you need to know where to place the hashtag symbol. It goes immediately (no spaces) before the keyword or phrase you want to tag. Hashtag phrases can be embedded anywhere within a post or tweet. It doesn’t have to be at the end as it is most popularly used. Your hashtags will not turn up in search results if your account settings are set to “protected” or “private.”

Some Dos And Don’ts
The absolute worst thing about the hashtag is that it is often overused into oblivion. We’ve all seen the Facebook post with 14 hashtag phrases at the end. The more hashtags in a post, the less likely they are to be seen and the power of the hashtag is diluted. Even worse, hashtag spamming makes your brand seem annoying and clueless. Instead choose one or two good hashtag phrases.

A great hashtag practice is to choose one hashtag to represent your brand. While you can continue to use other hashtags, your primary hashtag phrase can be used by your customers whenever they talk about your brand on social media.

Finally, make sure your hashtags are simple and easy to remember. No one wants to read a transcontinental run-on sentence. #theyarereallyhardtoreadwhenyougoonandonandon. Remember, the more simple and memorable your hashtag, the more likely your customers are to talk about it on social media, and that’s exactly how you want to spread your brand.

Reported Losses For BlackBerry Smartphones

It is that time of year again. While everyone is out celebrating the holidays, having fun, and giving each other gifts, companies have had to stop and calculate how they are doing. This can be really good news or really bad news since you have either succeeded your company goals or are lagging behind. If you are smart, you’ll wait to look at all the numbers until after the year is over, so you can enjoy the holidays. Unfortunately, BlackBerry still hadn’t announced third quarter numbers and had to make that announcement. And it isn’t just bad news; it is really bad news.

Losses At BlackBerry
Poor BlackBerry had to announce quarterly losses, according to Reuters. Though it also announced positive news to move forward with plans to develop new product with Foxconn Technology Co Ltd, the bad news seemed to overwhelm the good. BlackBerry recognizes that its biggest problem is the lack of smartphone sales, but it hasn’t stopped trying to improve. BlackBerry reported a net loss of $4.4 billion in the third quarter while revenue dropped by $1.54 billion. Wall Street predicted a $1.6 billion loss, so maybe it wasn’t all that bad?

To Be Expected
How many people have you seen with a BlackBerry in the last couple of weeks? Maybe one or two? Hardly any young people even know what a BlackBerry is. Which is why it comes as no surprise that BlackBerry is showing huge losses and cannot seem to sell enough smartphones. Despite the fact that BlackBerry was the first to bring email to phones and really create a secure and safe smartphone, it has lagged behind. The lesson to be learned is that you can’t stay ahead unless you are constantly innovating and marketing to customers. You have to keep working if you are going to stay at the top, a lesson Apple may have to learn the hard way here soon.

What About Apple?
Though it hasn’t hit too hard yet, Apple has seen more and more customers switching to Android or Windows Phones. After BlackBerry, there was the iPhone. You can only stay on top as long as it takes other companies to copy your technology and offer the exact same thing. Companies that really want to keep the leading position in the smartphone industry need to constantly change and improve to, hopefully, bring about a brand new technology everyone loves. Hopefully, Apple doesn’t fall too hard and can find some new things to introduce to customers soon.

Will BlackBerry Ever Make It Back?
The question now is whether or not BlackBerry is completely out of the game. There are still some large companies that will only use BlackBerry for their secure smartphone network, but there are many companies that have made the switch to iPhone or other secured phones. Maybe BlackBerry can come up with something new and get ahead, but it probably won’t be happening anytime soon. With all smartphone manufacturers at full-speed trying to develop new ideas, it might be hard to catch up and get ahead.

Business Texting: A New Idea

What is business texting? It is a way for you to quickly and easily communicate with your customers to develop a trusting relationship. One of the biggest trends in 2014 for marketing will be developing relationships. Every generation is different, so every year there are new ways to market to the young kids just barely turning 18 or 19. For the last little while, most companies have struggled with this because there was no sense of customer loyalty among young people. However, this has begun to change as the new young people begin to become your customers. Again, loyalty counts.

Developing Loyal Customers
The best way to develop loyalty among your customer base is to create a relationship with them. However, you won’t really have the time to sit down and talk to every person who walks through the doors. In fact, the people who walk in probably won’t have time to talk to you either. That is why it is essential to provide great customer service. If your customers feel like you care enough about them to take care of them when they are in need without making it more difficult than necessary, they will be back again and again.

Don’t Waste Time: Develop Relationships
It would not be worth your time or your customers’ time to call them individually. In fact, it might feel a bit of a nuisance. However, allowing them to text in any questions they may have and answering them will make your customers feel like you care about them. Offering a way for you to communicate with each other whenever necessary will build a relationship of trust between you and your client.

The problem is that you may not be able to afford to pay a customer service team to sit around and do the business texting for you. Instead, you can set up an automated business texting service. With the service, basic questions about store hours, customer service, or menu items will be automatically answered without you having to lift a finger. It means your customers feel like they are getting superb customer service with quick and polite responses without you having to actually pay for it.

A Few Examples
Here is how it works. Say, for example, your customer wants to know if you will still be open in an hour. They will text something like “what are your store hours” or “what time do you close.” The business texting system will recognize it is a question about store hours and will respond with a pre-determined message, such as “we are open from 9 am to 9 pm today.” Even responses as simple as “thank you” will get an automatic “you’re welcome” back without having to have a real person sending messages. Automatic machines are very impersonal and make a customer feel like you don’t care about them, but when it comes through text, they never know if it is automated or not. All they know is that they got the answer they want sent back very quickly. You will be able to develop better relationships with customers and build loyalty, all through quick and easy business texting.

Turning Mobile Into Everything You Want

One of the biggest frustrations in life is making a purchase knowing you can’t get everything you want. If you buy a phone with better storage, it may have a terrible camera. You can’t get that extra pass through fireplace in the new house. We are constantly making compromises with the things we buy because, most of the time, it isn’t offered any other way. How would you like it if you could change that? What if you could get everything you wanted from mobile? Well, now you can with Cyanogen.

What Is Cyanogen?
Cyanogen is a company that provided software for Android devices to allow people to customer it however they want. It is an open source platform, so you can really do anything you want with it. There are millions of possibilities, according to USA Today. The point of creating the software, however, was really to allow people to change their Android settings on an everyday basis. It is the way of letting people get anything and everything they wanted on their phone without hoping some other company can create it for you.

Everything You Want
No more having to compromise, you can get everything you want in an Android device. The program will work to keep things compatible on your phone but also allow you to have everything you need on your phone. This is what the people want. Nobody wants the same old thing as everyone else. Instead, they want a phone they can change up. It speaks to your own individuality and gives you a chance to create things never thought of before.

The Craze of Individuality
Individuality in everything we do has become something Americans crave. We are all alike in that we all want to be different. Now we can create our own phones, thanks to Moto X, and we can customize the features of our phones, thanks to Cyanogen. We can don’t have to restrict ourselves to the same thing as everyone else. Maybe that’s why Apple is struggling to keep all the iPhone customers lately. Nobody wants to have the exact same thing as everyone else with the same colors, same apps, and same functionality.

One Thing We All Have And Want
Even with all the individuality in phones and the different needs we have, everyone still needs and uses texting. No matter what kind of phone you have or the way it works, you will still need to text your friends today. That is why your business needs to focus so much on texting. Business texting takes mobile to the next level and allows you to stay in close contact with all your customers. Then they can tell you exactly what they want and need, and you can customize your business. Just like phones, people like flexibility and will do everything they can to buy the most individualized stuff possible. Find ways to work better with your specific customers by texting them to ask or allowing them to text in questions to you. It is the perfect way to start boosting your sales.

Mobile Marketing Myths Exposed

If you want to know which aspects of an industry are trending, simply follow the money. Consider that mobile marketing budgets have increased by 142% since 2011. It’s safe to say that mobile marketing is a trend to watch. But with all the hype, there have been a number of misconceptions that have misled many business owners. In order to create an effective and successful marketing campaign, you’ll need to be able to separate the fact from the fiction. Here’s a look at five common mobile marketing myths.

Mobile Users Aren’t Always On The Go
A common misconception about mobile users is that they’re always rushing from one place to the next. Though many mobile users do fit this description, many others are using their mobile devices. According to one study, 75% of ad impressions were seen from home. This myth is important to bust because many marketers put so much emphasis on marketing to those who are out and about when the majority of mobile users are sitting at home. Instead try to find a balance that can reach both groups.

Not All Mobile User Behavior Is Simple
Another common myth is that all mobile user behavior is simple. Many marketers believe that the most they can hope for is for the mobile consumer to click to call or click to download. You’ve probably often heard that mobile customers aren’t willing to push more than a button or two to complete a mobile transaction. In actuality, mobile accounts for a third of all digital transactions across all industries. This suggests that mobile users are patient enough to purchase via mobile device.

Not All Mobile Metrics Are Created Equal
When it comes to measuring the success of a mobile marketing campaign, many marketers are content to focus on just a few metrics such as the total number of views, clicks or downloads. While these numbers are important, they are insufficient by themselves. To accurately measure a marketing strategy’s effectiveness, it’s important to take a holistic approach to mobile analytics. Analyze many different metrics to not only determine the total number reached but the number acting on it.

Longer Visits Doesn’t Mean More Engagement
Yet another popular mobile marketing myth is that the longer a person is on a mobile site the better. Studies show, however, that after clicking through several pages, most mobile users eventually get bored and leave the site. In comparison, customers who find what they’re looking for right off the bat are most likely to convert (that’s marketing jargon for “make a purchase”). When designing your mobile site, focus on creating engagement on the first page or two.

Mobile Alone May Not Be Enough
Finally, with all the attention mobile is getting, many are promoting a mobile only marketing strategy. The problem with this strategy is that in today’s digital age, a customer might see a mobile ad on their smartphone, receive an email on their PC, and ultimately complete the purchase on a tablet. The best digital marketing campaigns are carried out across multiple platforms.
