Sound You Get The New Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch?

The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch is a new invention that anyone can get if they have a bit of extra cash to spend. It is pretty bulky and large but has a lot of great features. There has been quite a bit of hype over the watch, but the real question is: should you get one? There’s many things to consider before making your decision, so let’s take a look!

All About The Smartwatch

The smartwatch is a bulky and large watch-device that is almost as smart as a smartphone. You will need to fork out $299 on top of the cost of your Galaxy Note 3, which could get really spendy but may be well worth it to the right individual. The whole idea behind the watch was to create a way for people to easily access text messages and emails without having to take out their phone. MOre or less, it is a smartphone on your wrist, and you can do almost just as much with it.

At NBC News, Wilson Rothman lists some of the positive and negative things that you get with the Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch, and I included a few I like as well:

Positives:

-It’s great for telling time. You can easily see the time because the watch is so big.
-It’s not nearly as big as we all thought. It seemed like it would be the biggest and bulkiest invention out there, but really it’s quite nice.
-Offered in multiple colors. Of course, if you are going to be sporting it every day and don’t want to spend the cash for multiple colors, you will probably want to go with black or white, but at least those who can make one color match everything in their wardrobe may want a special color.
-Pausing music is easier. I always hate taking my phone out of my pocket to adjust music volume or skip a song, but that’s not a problem anymore with the smartwatch.
-Speakers on the wrist. This isn’t the most necessary thing, but what really is about the smartwatch? It is mostly just a cool feature!
-Convenience. It is ridiculously convenient to have messages sent straight to your wrist. It is perfect when at work or just when you don’t want to be rude and pull out your phone. At least you know the importance so you can decide whether or not to answer it right away.

Negatives

-Camera quality isn’t very good. Though I personally don’t mind the quality and think they are pretty great pictures, some people really don’t like the low quality and awkward way you have to hold your wrist to take a picture.
-Charging the battery is a pain. The battery life is pretty low and will only last a day, and you have to dock it to get it charged. As long as you remember to charge it every night, it shouldn’t be a problem.
-Must own the Galaxy Note 5. The only way to get this smartwatch is to also own the galaxy note. That’s annoying to quite a few people who would rather pick a different phone to get the watch.

Should You Buy It?

The decision is up to you. Why not try it out and see if you like it? Assuming you have a lot of extra cash, it might be fun to try out for a while!

Smartphones Most Preferred Product: Apple and Google

Right now, we have the most amazing technology. Everything we have seems to be enhanced by little inventions to make it better. Our lives are easier, and we have so much. However, if there was one thing you would say you couldn’t go without, what would it be? Apparently, most people would choose to keep their cell phones.

Coca-Cola Beat Out By Apple and Google

For the last 13 years, Coca-Cola has been the number one company in the Interband survey of Best Global Brands. According to PC Magazine, now Apple is number 1 and Google is number 2. Our country used to be all about coke, but I guess now we’ve switched to a country of technology and a country that prefers our smartphones. Apple and Google are probably pretty pleased with themselves. It took a lot of work to beat out Coca-Cola, and now they are doing significantly better. Apple has beat out Coke, so I’m sure Google is throwing a fit over that. Still, beating out the number one spot is an accomplishment.

Everyone would have pegged Apple for beating Google, but Apple is actually not that far ahead of Google right now. Google could easily mastermind a new product to jump ahead for next year’s poll. Apple has had surprising increases in the last few years despite the lack of innovation and death of their main innovator, Steve Jobs. I guess everyone still wants an iPhone, even if it’s nothing new.

Top Ten Spots

Thanks to Interband, we get to see which companies have the most value every year. The top ten spots of 2013 include the following:
1. Apple
2. Google
3. Coca-Cola
4. IBM
5. Microsoft
6. General Electric
7. McDonald’s
8. Samsung
9. Intel
10. Toyota

As you can see, seven of the top 10 spots belong to technology companies. There is so much technology going into Toyota cars that you might as well count it as a technology company as well. This list shows that our nation’s priorities are changing. We want technology with everything we do and want to make sure we are getting the best. We don’t care about tradition or what our parents used to do. We just want to make sure we have the best.

Turn On Electronic Advertising

As a business, you need to stay on top of these kinds of things in order to compete. Since all of your customers will have technology and are always going to get the next best thing, that means you need to start advertising with the next best thing. Use the internet and phones to get your company name out there. Remind people you exist and that you have the best product. Get on Facebook and talk to customers there. Use other social media to your advantage. Text your customers reminders to come in for a deal, and stay on top of things, so you can beat out your closest competition. Using these technological devices to your advantage will put you far ahead of others. Hardly any businesses are currently utilizing texts and smartphones to advertise. Getting on top had never been easier.

Virgin Mobile Announces New iPhone No-Contract Plans

There are many phones to choose from, but not all of them are offered by the same carrier. For the longest time, people who wanted the iPhone had to get it from AT&T until it was released to all other carriers. It was a big deal when Verizon started offering the iPhone because it brought in a ton of business. Picking a carrier can be almost as hard as picking a phone. It used to be that you had to get in a contract to use any kind of smartphone. That is starting to change, and Virgin Mobile’s announcement makes it even easier.

Announcement From Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile just announced that the iPhone 5c and 5s can be used with pre-paid plans starting on October 1, according to PC Magazine. Maybe you want a new phone but don’t want to be tied down to any one carrier. Maybe you like knowing you have the freedom to change whenever you want. That is what Virgin Mobile is offering.

Plan Costs To Consider

You can get an unlimited data and texting plan for around $35 a month with an iPhone, though you end up with hardly any talk minutes. If you don’t care about talking on the phone, then it won’t really matter. Also, PCMag points out that you can get a discount on your bill by signing up for automatic payments. So you can quit at any time and are paying way less than competitors. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

Not A Lot of Talk Time

One thing to consider is how often you actually spend talking on the phone anymore. If I added up all my minutes for the last month, I might have only reached a hundred or so. Most of the time, I text people or send emails. I know I’m not alone. There have been multiple studies showing an increase in texting and decrease in talking. So, maybe we should pick up the phone and talk every once in awhile, but the need for it has decreased significantly with all the other forms of communication around.

What This Means For You, The Business

Almost all cell phone companies offer unlimited talk and text because the phone is rarely used for talking. Verizon had to completely switch their plans because so few people were willing to pay for talk anymore. As a business, you should recognize your customer-base would rather be communicated with electronically. You should get your texting system set up, so you can spend less time trying to reach out to people over the phone and more time actually getting information to customers through texting. If you send a text, you are guaranteed to have sent the information, whereas hardly anyone will answer the phone, and even if they do, they don’t want to listen to a sales pitch. An automatic text system could be just what you need to get more customers.

Get Started With Mobile Marketing Before It’s Too Late

Every year, billions of texts are sent and received, and hundreds of them go to you. Every time you get a text, you pull out your phone right away and check it. Even if it ends up being something you don’t care about, you saw it. Few companies even consider mobile marketing when they are trying to decide how to market to consumers, but it might be the most effective way to go. Utilizing texting will significantly help your business succeed and get you on the map for new customers.

Start With A Sale And Advertise

As a business, a good marketing technique is to have sales. More than likely, the person coming in for the sale won’t buy just the stuff on sale but will also buy other things. The sale is more of a way to get people in than it is something you want to make money. Coming up with a sale that will interest the customer but not be the bulk of your sold items is a challenge in and of itself, but the real problem is making sure all your customers know about the sale.

How To Get The Word Out

If you are just doing a weekend sale or something similar, then putting up a billboard may be a little excessive. The cost vs. what business it may actually bring in is not very good. Passing out fliers still won’t hit all your customers. Even an email can get easily lost or missed, as most people have junk emails they don’t check for those kinds of things. Just posting on your website might get missed unless they are constantly checking for a sale, and putting it on your Facebook can lose quite a few people.

The best way to do it is to send a text to everyone you can. Your customers will check it in case it is something important and all the sudden notice that there is a sale they should be aware of! Even if they don’t want to come in that day, at least they know about your sale. Getting the word out is the best you can do. If people don’t know, they can’t decide whether or not to come, so your job is to make sure everyone knows what is happening.

Help With Online Rating And Get More Customers

According to The Business Journal, the two most important things you can do to boost your online ratings and get more customers through mobile devices is to ask for recommendations and to communicate with customers, whether good or bad. Through texting, you can ask consumers to fill out surveys, which makes them more likely to actually do it. You can also communicate with them about their experiences through texting, making them more likely to respond because they can do it on their own time without having to answer while busy.
Using texting at your business will help in all kinds of ways if you can just get started.

The Mobile Phone - A Vital Organ

Though we aren’t born with a cell phone, it has become a part of everyday life for almost all people. Kids these days won’t even know what it was like to have a phone tied to the wall in the kitchen, having to share with family, or not being able to take a phone with you when you go out. Like the record and the telegraph, things have improved significantly, but is that really a good thing? Or a bad thing?

The Positives

There are a ton of great things about cell phones that I, personally, love. They make it so I always know where the people important to me are. If I want to see if someone is okay, it is no longer about waiting hours for them to come home. I can just call right away. This is very convenient and takes a lot of stress away. If someone were in trouble, all they would have to do is dial 911. IT is a much safer world with cell phones. I don’t need a camera because I have it with me all the time in my phone. I can get directions when on the road without having to pull over. I can always find the answer to my questions since the internet is always in my hands. Instead of having to have a fifteen minute phone conversation for one piece of information, I can just text it. Having a cell phone is convenient, easy, and fun.

The Negatives

The Telegraph goes into detail about the negative parts of having a cell phone. Mostly, the concerns were related to losing personal time. People do not ever shut down their cell phones, which means they are losing out on valuable time with the people they love and themselves. It is like music - if we constantly have noise in our ears, how are we ever going to think? Having a cell phone definitely means missed moments that are special, distracting noises during private time, and noise constantly in our head. It means we have to take our work home, because we can, and it means our conversations change. The article points out that the people we actually talk to decreases significantly, and even those we spend time texting aren’t necessarily our “friends.” Personal time and personal relationships are lost.

Is It Worth It?

For individuals, there is a trade-off. Getting this vital organ means losing so much, but apparently we are okay with that. If we weren’t, nobody would have cell phones. For businesses, it is even better. It means you have a way to advertise to your customers where you know they will constantly be looking. Businesses who aren’t already set up with texting programs need to get started sooner rather than later because it may be the best way to contact your customer. What better way to advertise than with something attached to your customers at all times?

Three Ways To Use Mobile Marketing In Your Business

SMS or Short Message Service, is a great tool for any business. It’s effective, cost efficient, and very adaptable so it can be used to complement any marketing strategy already in place. Because there are so many different ways to use mobile marketing, it can be used  to meet a variety of business goals. Here’s a look at three different ways your business can use mobile marketing and how it can benefit your company.

Outbound SMS
No other mobile marketing tool gives as much bang for its buck as SMS. When you think about how effective and inexpensive it is, the question of whether to use SMS for your business is really a no brainer. SMS is very versatile, your business can use it to serve a number of functions. You can use it to send customers special offers, inform customers of promotions, send shipping notifications, and any number of customer services.
Because 95% of texts are read within five minutes, there is no better way to send out time sensitive information such as a one-day deal. While other forms of advertising require consumers to be on the internet, texts can reach just anyone with a mobile device, which is virtually everyone.
Texts cost literally pennies to send and they automate your marketing strategy. Making calls can be expensive and there is no guarantee that a person will answer the first, second, or third time. It also doesn’t require the efforts of a design team like a mobile app would.

Inbound SMS
SMS isn’t always about sending out texts to your customers. Your customers can also text your business. Via text, customers can respond to special offers that were sent to them, opt in to a texting loyalty club, enter sweepstakes or other competitions, give feedback, and even request information. Automatic text response systems can receive a text and reply with the appropriate response based on keywords in the incoming text.
One creative use for inbound texting is a program called Text2CallBack which allows customers to text a time that they will be available and a person will then call at that time.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR)
Texting is not the only way to use mobile marketing in your business. IVR allows customers to reply to questions from an automated caller by using the buttons on their phones. Because automated telephone services can be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, it eliminates the problem of not being able to contact a person.
If you’re wondering how your company could use IVR, think of payments over the phone. With IVR, payment by phone is fast and automated and can be done on the customer’s own time.
Another great aspect of IVR is that you don’t have to use a generic robot-sounding voice. Imagine how effective it is if a customer is calling in to a company that specializes in adventure gear and is greeted by the voice of Bear Grylls. Your company can consider using the voice of somebody your customers would recognize and respond to positively.

Not Even China Wants The iPhone 5C

When Apple released its new phones, there was a lot of debate on how successful they would really be. The iPhone 5C is less expensive and has fewer perks, but at least you get an iPhone. The iPhone 5S is the more expensive model with a lot of the new features people are talking about, including the fingerprint lock mechanism. It was believed that the iPhone 5C was mostly being produced, so Apple could open up the markets in China with a less expensive phone. The only problem is that sales for the 5C have not been doing well, not even in China.

What Makes Apple Work

The thing that has always made Apple work was exclusivity. Even though the technology is really available to everyone, it seemed like something you could only access if you had money. By having a product that nobody else had and making it really expensive, Apple was able to gain a following. Even though almost everyone has an iPhone now, Apple has been able to maintain its appearance of being exclusive and better than the competition. Now that other manufacturers have caught up though, the competition is getting more fierce, and Apple is trying to compete. Apple has even been copying other manufacturers to stay ahead.

Apple, more than likely, made the change to sell the cheaper iPhone to open up its market to more
people, but that is not what the people want.

Nobody Buying The iPhone 5C

Nobody in the US is interested in the iPhone 5C, according to the LA Times, but that was to be expected. Americans have no problem forking out for the nicer phone if it means they are keeping up with the latest technology. The surprising bit is that people in China aren’t even buying it. ZDNet reports that surveys of phone purchases in China showed that 9 out of 10 people bought the iPhone 5S. That means that only 1 out of every 10 people actually bought the iPhone 5C. I guess Apple may not have needed a cheaper phone to be successful in China after all.

The biggest problem is that people in China were hoping the new iPhone 5C would be a budget phone that
cost hardly anything at all. Even though the phone was still cheaper than the iPhone 5S, it still wasn’t a budget phone, and anyone willing to spend money on an iPhone was willing to fork out more to get the nicer version. If the phone was offered at little to no cost, the sales would likely have been increased significantly.

Apple Doing Better Than Expected

For Apple, having more 5S sales isn’t a bad thing. The more expensive phone costs hardly anything at all to make, meaning there will be a higher profit margin. This is great news for the company and all shareholders. Even though people are complaining of motion sickness due to the new features in the phone moving back and forth (CNET), Apple continues to sell and make a great profit.

Cell Phone Commandments For Manufacturers

In the mobile world, staying on top means having the next best thing. One bad idea can lead to a company’s destruction while one good idea will lead to the top. This is something every mobile manufacturer has experienced as they compete with one another and try to beat the competition. There are just a few things every Cell Phone company should be doing if they are going to be successful.

Thou Shalt Copy Thy Neighbor

The first thing any successful mobile carrier needs to do is copy what other successful phones do. If touch screens are popular right now, copy it. Just because it wasn’t your idea doesn’t mean you can’t be just as successful using it. Besides, customers expect all phones to meet a certain standard, and having the next best thing is part of that. This is something Samsung is doing right now as it announced a gold case, copying iPhone’s recent announcement about colored phones, according to PCMag. And guess what. Samsung will probably sell more phones by copying Apple.

Thou Shalt Overcharge

Every phone company charges quite a bit more than it actually costs to make the phone. Of course, a business has to make money, but there is a difference between making a living and cheating people out of their hard-earned cash. But, if you can do it, why not? According to Computer World, Apple is again charging way more for the iPhone than it actually costs to product. If people are willing to pay it, you should do it.

Thou Shalt Market Exclusively

The ability to get your phone in a market where people want it because they can’t have it is pretty difficult. Having a nice phone with expensive prices is not enough. If people don’t know your phone exists, they don’t even get a chance to want it. You need to start with marketing the phone while making it look like something only the best people get. If you can convince your audience they are getting the best in the market, they will be willing to pay just a little bit extra for that phone.

Thou Shalt Be User Friendly

If people can get your cell phone and use it with ease, they are more likely to want it again and tell their friends. Making your cell phone user friendly means it is easier for the customer to find and read texts, use email, and do whatever they want with it. One reason why Apple isn’t doing as well is because users are restricted on what they can do with their phones. Make your phones easy to use and texting capabilities easy for users and consumers, and you will do alright.

Apple Can Always Get Hacked - Even With The New iPhone

The new iPhone 5S has been a huge hit. Not only has there been plenty of sales on the new phone, there has also been quite the buzz. People want to know how safe it really is to use a fingerprint to unlock your phone, and they want to know if it is really as convenient as they say. Well, I’m hear to break the bad news. Even Apple products can get hacked.

Fingerprinting Technology

About five or six years ago, I bought a tablet before it was a craze. The tablet came with a fingerprint unlock function. Of course, the tablet wasn’t operated with a finger. I needed a special pen for that. And the fingerprint function wasn’t exactly perfect. It took two or three times before it recognized it was really me. So, when the new iPhone was coming out, I was worried it wouldn't work very well, which would make it a huge disappointment. Fortunately, technology is significantly better now than it was back then, and it seems fingerprinting is working really great. But is it too good to be true? Is your phone really secure?

Hacking The Fingerprint

Apple claimed it would not be possible to hack a fingerprint, stating that even cutting off a person’s finger wouldn’t work since a live finger would be needed to open the phone. But, of course, that encouraged people to start finding a hack right away. According to PC Magazine, there were even rewards posted for the person who could find the hack. Thousands of dollars were promised through Twitter, and unconventional prizes were offered as well, such as alcohol and bitcoins. It didn’t take long before one person came up with a way to break the code. All it took was a fake fingerprint lifted off of glass. I guess the iPhone 5S isn’t as safe as you think.

Anything Can Get Hacked

If the right person gets your phone, it will get hacked, no matter what kind of safety measures you have. You can either be nervous all the time that your phone will get broken into and get as many safety things put on it as possible, or you can accept the facts and move on. I know it would suck if my phone was stolen because my password isn’t too secure, but at least I know I could easily cancel all accounts associated with my phone and the damage would be minimal. Maybe, if you are really worried, you should make sure you know everything you would need to cancel if your phone got stolen. It might be more productive.

Evolution In Mobile Marketing

The mobile industry is expanding faster than marketers can keep up with. Today, just about everyone has a mobile device and they take them everywhere. Marketers are trying to find ways to market to these people through their mobile devices in a way that seems natural and authentic. Mobile poses some tough problem for marketers. There are a number of limitations, and not just with the screen size. People interact with mobile devices in a different way than with computers, TV, and print. Most people use their mobile devices to carry out quick utilitarian tasks. It’s not like a TV where people turn it on, sit in front of it, and relax. All this means that marketing via mobile needs to be done differently than advertising through TV, computers, and print.

Harnessing The Power of Mobile

One reason marketers are so focused on reaching consumers through their phones is that there is such a huge opportunity there. Unlike TVs and computers, phones almost always go where the user goes. Because mobile users are constantly pulling out their phones, there is so much potential for marketers. Despite the tremendous opportunity, many mobile marketers report than they’re not able to fully take advantage of it. In order to make better use of the benefits of mobile, they are constantly coming up with new ways to interact with consumers through their mobile devices.

Advertisements On The Go

As already mentioned, mobile presents certain problems for marketers. One is that mobile users are on the go. They use their devices at work, in the airport trying to catch a flight, in a crowded restaurant waiting for a business lunch, and an infinite number of other situations. An advertisement that may be effective in one situation may not be as effective in another situation. So unlike with other forms of media, one form of advertising doesn’t fit all with mobile.

A Natural Form of Advertising

One way marketers are learning to better utilize mobile marketing is by inserting little advertisements in ways that don’t seem forced. They are also getting better at using advertisements in ways that will be effective in a certain situation. For instance, they will have a different advertisement in an airline’s app because they can assume that their target audience will see that advertisement while in an airport. That ad will be specifically targeted for a person in a specific environment. This type of advertising comes across as more natural to consumers and they are less likely to feel pushed towards a product or service they’re not interested in.

Samsung Galaxy May Replace iPhone Soon

In the cell phone industry, iPhone is King. There are a few other competing phones that are doing fairly well, but iPhone is still on top. It may not be that way for long. Lack of innovation has made Apple less appealing in recent years. Yes, they release a new phone every year, but there’s not much new about it. However, other companies continue to provide you with the latest technology. The Samsung Galaxy is starting to look really good right about now to all those technology freaks out there.

What’s New With Samsung

Samsung is releasing the next version of the Galaxy Note in October with a new little tool called the Galaxy Gear, according to GeekSugar. The Galaxy Gear is a watch that has a large screen. You wear it, and it tells you whenever there is any kind of notification on your phone. Instead of constantly checking your phone for updates and having to pull it out of your pocket over and over, you can just wait for an alert from your watch. These are the kind of updates people are looking for. They want the most cutting-edge technology that is practical and useful.

Where Can You Get It?

The Galaxy Gear is pretty much useless without the phone, but it is fairly expensive. In fact, it will likely be more expensive than the phone, according to SFGate. The good news is that you will be able to buy it pretty much anywhere. Even your local Walmart and Amazon will be selling them. If you are interested in getting the new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, you will be able to get them anywhere and in a variety of colors.

Could This Be The Next “Thing”?

The real question is whether or not this is really going to be the next thing. Having a bulky watch may bother a lot of people. It gets in the way when typing and shows your business to anyone around. But maybe it will work out really well.

If it does, you can guarantee any texts you send to people from your business will be seen immediately. Keep your customers in the know and text them all your bargains and discounts. They will see it right away on their new phone device and will be excited to hear from you.

Get Started With Untapped Cell Phone Marketing

As a business, you are probably looking for as many ways into the lives of your customers as possible. The more they see you, the more they remember you, and the more they remember you, the more business you get. So, you try and do everything you can to market to your customers, including all kinds of advertisements and discounts. Unfortunately, most businesses aren’t using the most powerful tool available for advertising: the cell phone.

Give Someone A Cell Phone, And They Will See Your Ad

Everyone has a cell phone, and if they don’t, it is because they are under the age of 10. Even then, most kids have cell phones now. People always check their phones regularly looking for any kind of distraction. So, doesn’t it make sense that you would advertise there? Somewhere you can guarantee your ads will be seen? When you get a text, what is your first response? To let it sit? No, you check it right away. And if you have been in a meeting for an hour, what is the first thing you do afterwards? Check your phone. Most people behave this way too.

Most businesses don’t even think about using mobile advertising let alone monopolize on the whole concept. According to Forbes, people are beginning to use their cell phones for browsing more often than they are using desktops or laptops. Most people buy things from their phones now, and cell phone internet use is growing much faster than traditional internet use. That is why it is so important to start working on mobile advertising.

How To Get Started

The best way to get started is with texting. If you can get your customers to sign up for texting programs, you can send automatic texts with advertisements and deals in them. These will remind your customers that you are still around and ready for business. Then, if you have an automated text response system, you can even reply back to any texts they might send in.
